How Dog Can Prolong Your Life

Do you want to add years to your life? If you want, then consider owning a dog.This is the latest research study from a university in Sweden where dog owners here are required to be registered with the government. A total of 3.4 million people were involved in the study and it was enough to say  that their finding is accurate. The main reason is that dog care decreases risk of cardiovascular disease.

Besides the Swedish government, there are also other studies that show dog owners have lower blood pressure than those who have no pet dog because the pet owners are more active. And there are also findings that not only the active lifestyle of the dog and the owner decreases blood pressure but also the so-called  “pet effect”. This means, even with the touch of a dog, it can lower your blood pressure.

There are also evidences to show that dog care decreases cholesterol and triglyceride levels than those who do not own a dog, and the difference is not due to diet, smoking, or body mass index.

There are also studies that show dogs calm down people and it is a great help to overcome the stress of life. Their heart rate and blood pressure were rising and returning to normal when faced with stressful situations.

Dogs will keep you fit and active. Dogs usually walk outside. Of course, you will need to walk and walk in order to follow your dog. Your muscles will also be exercised. For example, your hand in particular will experience pressure when the dog pulls as you hold the leash.

Dog care can also helps lower your weight. In one study, participants have dropped an average of 14.4 pounds over a year. And they do not consider it as an exercise but their obligation to walk the dog with them.

Dogs provide improvement in your social life as it results in human-to-human friendships and social support. Traveling  outdoors with your dog gives you the opportunity to meet and talk to other dog owners who also travel with their dog. Oftentimes, every dog owners have a common interest besides caring for the animal.

Dogs reduce stress. Hormone oxytocin increases its level when you play with the dog. This hormone lowers human stress. On the other hand, cortisol hormone, which increases the stress level, decreases. These changes in the hormone greatly help children to become less stressed according to one study. For example, a nervous child is more relaxed and find it easy to read aloud a book when at first he or she plays the pet dog.

Dogs provide meaning and purpose in your life. They do not care about your feelings or illness so they expect you to take care of them all the time. You have the obligation to wake up everyday to maintain their well-being. It also has the same effect on your obligation to your loved ones.

Dogs eliminate your depression. If your relationship with your loved ones is somewhat complicated, dog does not. You will not worry if your words hurt your dog. No matter what you say, dog will accept. Most of the time, depression is a result of being alone. If you care for a dog, you will have a life partner. Having some routines like morning walk, giving dog some food, and other similar activities, remove depression.

Did you know that dogs also prevent allergies? The “dog dust”, or the dried flakes of skin that removes from your dog prevent the presence of allergies and asthma. Studies show that exposure to dogs especially in the early years of the child can cause vaccine-like effect as the exposure to certain types of bacteria makes the person immune.
